Rob Johnson, Barrow County’s Assistant Superintendent of District Services, is one of three candidates in the running for the Jasper County Superintendent position. The chosen candidate will be announced Feb. 10.
While being named in the top three is "a huge honor," Johnson said he loves Barrow County and is not looking for reasons to leave.
Meanwhile, the search for Barrow County’s new superintendent is ongoing. Of 33 original applicants for the position, 10 were selected for interviews. The timeline for the selection process has run slower than board members expected, and additional interviews will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9.
During a December meeting, board member Bill Bramlett said he was not concerned about the slow pace of the process, saying board members were being diligent and that each candidate was well-qualified.
Once the interviews are complete, board members will announce at least three top candidates. The new superintendent will be announced two weeks later.
